What configuration
options do I have?
|
| |
I’m InTouch has been designed to accommodate
virtually all network environments and has two
configuration options. Using the default Central
Communications Server configuration option, the
I’m InTouch Communications Server acts as
the communications broker between the remote device
and your desktop computer running I’m InTouch.
In this configuration a secure communications
tunnel is established between the desktop, the
Communications Server and the remote device. This
configuration is the easiest to set-up as it requires
no changes to the network environment that I’m
InTouch is being installed into.
The optional Direct configuration establishes
remote sessions as a Direct Peer-to-Peer Internet
connection, where the remote device interacts
directly with the desktop computer running I’m
InTouch, with no central communications server
involved. This configuration may require changes
to the existing network environment to enable
remote internet requests to traverse any existing
firewalls or network routers to your desktop computer.
Both configurations are designed to ensure secure
access and can be selected from the Advanced Configuration
page within the program.

Will
I’m InTouch work if I Have A Router or Firewall?
|
| |
Yes, with the default Central Communications
Server configuration, no changes will be required
to the existing router or firewall.
If the Direct connection configuration is selected,
It may be necessary to configure your firewall
or router to support a computer running a Web
Server behind the firewall. This is commonly referred
to as port forwarding or creating virtual servers
- following are a few firewall manufacturer's
links describing this set-up:

installed?
|
| |
You can choose the Central Communications Server
configuration, eliminating the need for any Proxy
Server changes or if you choose the Direct Peer-to-Peer
configuration it will be necessary to configure
the Proxy Server. See the 01 Proxy
Support Page for additional information.
